Namibia U-20 squad to prepare for COSAFA Youth games in Germany

Xinhua, May 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Namibia is sending its U-20 soccer team to Germany this month for friendly matches as part of the COSAFA Youth Games preparations.

The youth games are expected to be held in Zambia at a date yet to be announced this year.

The U-20 squad scheduled to be in Germany from May 10-23 will be based in the Westphalia region.

Namibia's football association has an agreement with Westphalia Football Federation that has so far seen the southern African country's coaches and U-17 squad undergoing training in Germany.

This latest tour comes as German and Namibia celebrate the annual football games' 10th anniversary.

The U-20 team coach, Upi Turipamwe, said Tuesday that he initially had a 40-man squad in camp for two weeks preparing for the German tour.

According to Turipamwe, the squad has since been trimmed down to 20 and will be reduced to 18 when they finally leave Namibia. Endi
