Rahul Gandhi joins Twitter

Xinhua, May 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Rahul Gandhi, second-in-command of the Indian National Congress party, on Thursday made his debut on Twitter and within hours got over 21,000 followers.

"Watch this space for information and updates on Rahul Gandhi's official programs and upcoming events," said the first tweet on Gandhi's Twitter handle 'Office of RG'.

Experts say that Gandhi joined Twitter to connect to millions of youths, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's social media success.

Modi, however, has over 12 million followers while anti- corruption Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has some 4.3 million followers.

Both Modi and Kejriwal have used the micro-blogging site to connect to the youths of this country as well as potential voters and often tweet to stay linked. Endi
