Renault Samsung, Ford to recall thousands of cars in S.Korea

Renault Samsung and Ford Sales Service Korea issued voluntary recalls for thousands of cars that have been found defective, the transport ministry said Monday.
Renault Samsung will recall 20,949 QM3 vehicles produced between September 11, 2013 and November 7, 2014, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Detected in the model was a problem with the front brake hose possibly intervening in the movement of fender's inner parts. It may lead to corrosion and leakage of brake oil that can undermine brake performance.
Ford Sales and Service Korea, the local importer and distributor of the U.S. models, also issued a recall for 4,958 Taurus sedans, manufactured between December 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010, along with 45 MKS models made between June 1, 2011 and October 31, 2011.
The models had a faulty door latch, which may lead the doors to open while the car is moving. The spring-loaded doorlock should only be opened from the outside with a key.
Owners of those faulty vehicles can contact respective service centers from Monday. Those who had cars repaired in advance can be reimbursed for their costs. Endi
