France' s Valentin Belaud wins men' s modern pentathlon World Cup in Hungary

Valentin Belaud of France won the men' s modern pentathlon World Cup meet in Kecskemet, Hungary, on Sunday, with 1504 points overall, against Russia' s Ilia Frolov' s 1495 points and fellow Frenchman Valentin Prades' 1487 points.

Belaud scored 238 points in fencing, 311 in swimming, 293 in riding, and 662 in combined event. Runner up Frolov' s scores were 252 in fencing, 316 in swimming, 296 in riding, and 631 in combined event. Third place holder Prades scored 240 in fencing, 321 in swimming, 287 in riding, and 639 in combined event.

Woongtae Jun of South Korea was fourth with 1485 points, Pavlo Tymoshchenko of Ukraine was fifth with 1480 points, and Christopher Patte of France was sixth with 1476 points.

The women' s final was on Saturday, won by Zsofia Foldhazi of Hungary with 1361 points over Elodie Clouvel of France, who was second with 1358 points.
