Pakistan to send relief goods to Nepal: PM office

Pakistan will send relief goods to Nepal for the earthquake-hit people, officials said on Saturday.

On Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's directions, relief goods, including medicines, doctors and nurses as well as tents and blankets are being sent to Kathmandu, the PM's office said.

These relief goods will reach Nepalese capital as soon as the airport becomes functional.

Death toll from a 7.9 magnitude earthquake which struck Nepal on Saturday has risen to 758, according to local media reports.

Prime Minister Sharif spoke to the Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. Sushil Koirala and extended his deep condolences on the massive earthquake, which resulted in extensive loss of life and property.

The prime minister directed Foreign Office to keep him updated on the evolving situation in Nepal and relief needs of the people, an official statement said.

Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain, who is currently in Turkey on an official visit, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the loss of lives in the massive earthquake that caused destruction and damage in Nepal and Northern India. Endi
