Nigeria vows to restructure women basketball league

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has promised to restructure the Zenith Bank National Women Basketball League next season.

President of the federation, Tijani Umar, told newsmen in Lagos, the nation's economic hub that the 2016 edition of the league would be improved in various aspects.

"We want the league to be more mature in terms of numbers, standard and competition," he added.

"We want to make it look like the DStv Men' s Premier Basketball League, whereby there will be matches away and at home for the clubs," he said.

Umar said the federation would appeal to the sponsors to increase their funding so as to enhance the league's standard.

The NBBF president added that the prize money for the three best clubs in the league have been increased.

Eighteen teams, which have been grouped into two, will participate in the 11th Zenith Bank National Women Basketball League. Endi
