Asian, African countries pledge to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure

Asian and African countries pledged to further strengthen collaboration in developing" reliable and affordable infrastructure," said a document adopted at a summit that concluded here Thursday.

The Declaration on Reinvigorating the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership was adopted at the two-day Asian-African summit, through which leaders of Asian and African nations reaffirmed their commitment to expanding, deepening and solidifying the long-standing cooperation between the two continents.

The commitment to infrastructure development is made with the goal of increasing regional connectivity and boosting trade, investment, bankable projects and assistance, industrial development and maritime cooperation, the declaration said.

Cooperation in this regard will be conducted in such areas as maritime, air transport, roads, energy and telecommunications and easing of travel visa restriction, according to the document. Endi
