Vietnam's Hanoi to see 0.2 pct inflation in April

Xinhua, April 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Vietnamese capital city is expected to see an inflation rate of 0.2 percent in April, according to Hanoi Statistics Office on Tuesday.

In April, the city's Consumer Price Index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, is likely to post an increase of 0.74 percent on year, the office said on its website.

This is the second CPI increase since the beginning of the year. In March, the city's CPI hiked 0.38 percent from the previous month. The city posted negative inflation in the first two months of the year.

The CPI rise in April is attributed to price hike of petroleum and electricity in March, which led to the increase of transport, housing and fuel costs.

Monthly CPI in Vietnam is calculated from the 15th day of the previous month to the 15th day of the reference month. Endi
