60,000 asylum seekers expected in German state in 2015: official

Emilia Mueller, the minister of Social Affairs of the southern German state of Bavaria, on Tuesday said several thousand asylum seekers were expected to arrive this year in the state.

"I expect more than 60,000 people, who we will accommodate and care for in Bavaria," said Mueller during a visit to Augsburg.

According to the 63-year-old politician, the number of asylum seekers this year will be almost double as many it was in 2014.

So far, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Nuremberg expects about 45,000 asylum applicants. Endit
