One Foundation donates 150 mln for Lushan post-quake reconstruction

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Shenzhen-based One Foundation has contributed nearly 150 million yuan (about 24.2 million U.S.dollars) for the reconstruction of Lushan county, destroyed by an earthquake two years ago, the foundation said on Monday.

The independent public fundraising foundation has spent 45.31 million yuan on relocating people and more than 100 million yuan on reconstruction of communities and schools, quake-relief training for teachers and students and other child-based projects.

In 2014, the foundation completed reconstruction of 355 rural houses and started construction of five schools and nine community centers. The foundation is also building 11 rural kindergartens and other facilities including solar powered public bathhouses.

The projects will benefit more than 110,000 people, according to the foundation, which will spend a further 200 million yuan on the reconstruction.

The 7.0-magnitude Lushan quake struck on April 20, 2013, killing 196 people in Lushan County, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

One Foundation was originally founded by Jet Li in April 2007. With the 2010 registration in Shenzhen, One Foundation became authorized to act as a fully independent charity. Endi
