Hollande condemns brutal murder of 28 Christians by IS

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande condemned the brutal murder of 28 Christians in Libya by the Islamic State (IS), said a press release published Monday by his office, the Elysee.

The president said he condemned in the strongest terms the crimes and abuses that IS commits every day against civilians, regardless of their origins or religions.

Hollande reiterated France's determination to fight against the terrorist group, and affirmed his full support to the efforts of the UN special envoy to Libya.

"A national reconciliation agreement is necessary and urgent to restore order and security in Libya," Hollande said.

Islamic State on Sunday released a video purportedly showing its affiliates executing about 28 Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

In February, IS released a similar video showing 21 Coptic Christians from Egypt being beheaded by a Libyan branch of the extremist group. Enditem
