Eurozone construction production down by 1.8 pct in February

Xinhua, April 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector fell by 1.8 percent in the eurozone and by 1.2 percent in the 28-nation European Union (EU) in February, compared with the previous month, the EU statistics office Eurostat said Monday.

The decline in the eurozone is due to the 1.6 percent decrease of building construction and 2.6 percent fall in civil engineering.

In the EU, building construction declined by 1.1 percent, while civil engineering fell by 1.6 percent.

On a yearly basis, production in construction fell by 3.7 percent in the euro area and by 2.4 percent in the EU.

Among EU member states, the highest decreases in production in construction were observed in Germany, France and Portugal, while the largest increases were registered in Romania, Poland and Hungary. Endit
