Shallow undersea quake strikes off Bengkulu, Indonesia

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Bengkulu province of Indonesian island of Sumtra on Monday, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.

The quake jolted at 16:05 p.m. Jakarta time (0905 GMT) with epicenter at 191 km southwest Kaur of the province and with a depth of 10 km under sea bed, an official of the agency told Xinhua by phone.

Indonesia is prone of quake as it sits on a vulnerable quake- hit zone called "the Pacific Ring of Fire." Endi
