Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

A gala presented on Thursday by a Chinese art troupe appealed to Namibian audience in the country's capital Windhoek.

The movement was part of a series of events to mark the 25th anniversary of China-Namibia diplomatic relations.

The performance, staged at the National Theatre of Namibia, was presented by China's visiting Little Red Flower Art Troupe.

The well-attended event was witnessed by high ranking government officials including the Governor of the Khomas region Laura McLeod and Miao Ruilin, mayor of Nanjing, capital of the eastern China's Jiangsu Province, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and Chinese residents in Namibia.

The traditional friendship between Namibia and China dates back to the 1960s when the southern African nation waged a war to gain independence from South Africa.

China established diplomatic relations with Namibia a day after the country gained its independence on March 21, 1990.

Chinese Ambassador to Namibia Xin Shunkang said the people to people exchange and mutual understanding of respective cultures are the foundation and future of the friendship between Namibia and China.

The Little Red Flower was established in 1957 and has a very high reputation in China for its feature in children art education.

The art culture troupe has staged special performances for at least 40 Heads of States and governments around the world. Endi
