Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.88 percent Friday with the weighted index down 85.94 points at 9,570.93, according to news reaching here from Taipei.

Turnover totaled 97.70 billion new Taiwan dollars (3.13 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

BEIJING -- Chinese stocks ended higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 2.2 percent, or 92.47 points, to finish at 4,287.3 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index gained 1.3 percent, or 181.54 points, to close at 14,149.34 points.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved down 86.59 points, or 0.31 percent, on Friday at 27,653.12 points.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 27,597.68 and 27, 969.41. Turnover totaled 214.52 billion HK dollars (about 27.68 billion U.S. dollars).

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) rose 3. 60 points, or 0.17 percent, to 2,143.50 at the close. Trading volume stood at 457.91 million shares worth 6.25 trillion won (5. 77 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market closed more than 1 percent weaker on Friday despite a rise in commodity prices.

At the official market close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 69.6 points, or 1.17 percent, at 5877.9, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell 66.1 points, or 1.12 percent, to 5851.5.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.02 percent lower on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 1.31 points to 7946.89. The all-share index went up by 2.54 points, or 0.06 percent, to 4536.86.Trading volume reached 1.5 billion shares worth 3.5 billion pesos (78.67 million U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 568.32 points on Friday, up 0.04 points, or 0.01 percent,against the previous trading day's closing session.

A total of 46.620 million shares worth 1.009 trillion VND (47. 04 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Friday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 83.61 points on Friday, up 0.21 points, or 0.25 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of 57.03 million shares worth 727.649 billion Vietnamese dong (34.08 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, an increase of 10.27 percent in volume and a decrease of 0.26 percent in value against the previous trading session.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 6.42 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 3,525.19.

A total of 2.50 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 40 billion Singapore dollars (1.04 billion U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended lower here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,845.86 down 2. 08 points or 0.11 percent, and the Emas was at 12,724.26 down 3.91 points or 0.03 percent.

Turnover declined to 2.58 billion shares valued at 2.28 billion ringgit Malaysia (628.62 million U.S. dollars).
