China hopes for progress in Iran nuke talks

Xinhua, April 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

China hopes that all parties involved will push for progress in the new round of Iranian nuclear talks to be held in Vienna on April 22 and 23, said a Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday.

China will contribute to the progress in the upcoming negotiations, said Hong Lei at a regular press conference.

On April 2, diplomats from Iran and the P5+1 group agreed on parameters to resolve most issues of Iran's nuclear program in pursuit of a deal by June 30.

The framework is an important breakthrough and has laid a solid foundation for a comprehensive deal, said Hong.

Between now and the end of the June, complicated negotiations are required to reach a comprehensive agreement, he said.

China calls on all parties to recognize the achievements so far and make wise political decisions, he said.

Political directors will meet in Vienna on April 22 and 23 to "continue work towards a comprehensive solution to the Iranian nuclear issue", the European Union External Action announced in a statement on Thursday.

The talks will be "based on the key understandings reached in Switzerland on April 2". Experts will continue to work on the technical details necessary to finalize the political work. Endi
