YouTuber Amos Yee faces new bail conditions after pre-trial conference

YouTuber Amos Yee, who posted an online video with offensive remarks on Christianity and Singapore's former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, faces new conditions for bail after his pre-trial conference on Friday.

District Judge Kessler Soh set three new conditions under the court bail on Friday. As Yee's parents refused to post bail for him, the 16-year-old teenager will spend at least one night in remand.

Under the new conditions, Yee has to remove several posts online related to Lee Kuan Yew and Margaret Thatcher. His posts asking the public for funds also have to be taken down as this is a breach of private content.

Charged on March 31, Yee allegedly flouted his initial bail conditions after he posted an appeal for funds on his blog. Amos Yee wrote a blogpost headlined "Donate to Help Amos Yee" to raise 30,000 Singapore dollars for legal fees and two Facebook posts on Tuesday.

Another condition is that Yee has to report to the investigation officer or designated police officer at Bedok Police Division at 9 a.m. daily.

The court previously granted him a bail amount set at 20,000 Singapore dollars (about 14,906 U.S. dollars) on March 31 under the condition that he will not post, upload or distribute any comment or content to any social media or online service or website pending the trial.

Yee's bail review will be held on April 21, while his next pre- trial conference has been scheduled for May 13. Endi
