Tokyo shares ended slightly higher on Tuesday as investors maintained cautious ahead of the release of U.S. corporate earnings later in the day. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 3.22 points, or 0.02 percent, from Monday at 19,908.68.
The turnover was about 2,011.1 billion yen (about 16.78 billion U.S. dollars).

SHANGHAI -- Chinese stocks ended mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.34 percent, or 13.85 points, to finish at 4,135.56 points.
However, the Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.76 percent, or 107. 04 points, to close at 14,042.46 points.

TAIPEI -- Taiwan's share prices closed down 0.25 percent Tuesday with the weighted index down 24.3 points at 9,642.22, according to news reaching here from Taipei.
Turnover totaled 90.78 billion new Taiwan dollars (2.90 billion U.S. dollars) during the trading session.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.21 percent lower on Tuesday.
The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 16. 76 points to 8056.49. The all-share index went down by 10.84 points, or 0.23 percent, to 4605.92.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 558.67 points on Tuesday, down 0.87 points, or 0.16 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 69.539 million shares worth 1.324 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (61.71 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 70 stocks went up, 150 stocks fell down, while 65 stocks remained unchanged.
