China forms wetlands protection association

China has established an association in Beijing to protect wetlands, the State Forestry Administration (SFA) said on Tuesday.

The administration's deputy head Sun Zhagen was elected as the first chair of the association.

China's wetlands are now in severe situation of poor management, habitat destruction and species diversity, the SFA said.

China has 53.6 million hectares of wetlands. Endi
