Staff walkout at Finland's airports likely to affect luggage handling

Xinhua, April 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Luggage handling in two major Finnish airports is likely to suffer due to a walkout by airport staff planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The strike is over workers' unions insisting the leasing company Airpro apply the prevailing agreements in the sector and not a cheaper agreement.

However, flights by Finnair, Flybe and Blue1 will not be affected, local media reported.

Airpro is a subsidiary of the national airport authority company Finavia. It leases ground handling and cabin services to several airlines operating in and out of Finland.

Luggage handling in Oulu, northern Finland, is expected to be affected on Tuesday and Wednesday between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m local time (0300 and 0900 GMT) and in Helsinki between 12 p.m. and 18 p.m. local time (0900 and 1500 GMT). Enidt
