Two Greek youth die in firework accident during Easter celebrations

Xinhua, April 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two Greek young men died and another two were injured in two firework accidents as Greece was celebrating Easter on Sunday, police said.

In an accident, two young people, aged 23 and 26 respectively, were electrocuted and died while creating fireworks.

In a separate accident, a 25-year-old man lost both his hands and his eyesight and his 23-year-old friend was slightly injured while firing fireworks shortly after the Easter Mass.

Both accidents happened near the city of Kalamata in southern Peloponnese peninsula as Orthodox Christians celebrated the Resurrection of Christ.

The use of fireworks to celebrate Easter is an old tradition in Greece, but almost each year the country reports casualties caused by fireworks. Endit
