At least 20 laborers were killed and three others injured when some unknown gunmen opened fire at a camp in Pakistan 's southwest Turbat district in the wee hours of Saturday morning, officials said.

District Commissioner Officer (DCO), Pasand Khan Buledi, said that heavily armed militants attacked laborers' camp at about 1:30 a.m. local time in Gugdan area of Turbat, a main district in the country's southwest Balochistan province, and fled the scene. ( Pakistan-Laborer Killing)

MAIDAN SHAHR, Afghanistan -- Unknown armed men shot dead the chief financial official of Wardak province near the Governor House on Saturday, spokesman for provincial government Attaullah Khogiani said.

"Pir Mohammad Kuchi the financial chief of provincial administration was on way to his office when two unknown armed men riding a motorbike intercepted his car and opened fire, killing him on the spot," Khogiani told reporters here. (Afghanistan- Shooting)

HERAT, Afghanistan -- Around 100 pupils of a school in the western Herat province with Herat city as its capital 640 km west of Kabul mysteriously got poisoned on Saturday, police said.

"Around 100 students of Al-Fatah school were mysteriously poisoned and so far 81 of them have been taken to hospitals for medical treatment," provincial police chief Abdul Majid Rozi told reporters here. (Afghanistan-Food Poisoning)

NEW DELHI -- Seven policemen were killed Saturday and 10 others injured in a gun battle with left-wing rebels in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, said police.

The fighting took place in a rebel-infested remote area of the state called Pidmel-Polampalli, when some police personnel were on a hunting operation against the Naxalite rebels. (India-Rebels-Gun Battle) Endi
