At least ten soldiers of the Libyan army were killed and more than 40 others wounded in fierce clashes in Libya's second largest city of Benghazi, medical and military sources told Xinhua on Saturday.
"Benghazi medical center on Friday received ten bodies of army soldiers, while the center received about 44 wounded soldiers of varying degrees of severity," a source in the Benghazi medical center told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Libya-Clashes)

TRIPOLI -- The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) condemned on Saturday the grave escalation of clashes in western Libya in recent days, calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the area.
"UNSMIL condemns the grave escalation in hostilities in western Libya in recent days, particularly in the Aziziya area in Warshafana, a region whose towns have witnessed considerable destruction as a result of the intermittent battles that have taken place there,"UNSMIL said in its statement. TEHRAN -- Iran has plans to build small nuclear power plants and desalination facilities in the coming years, spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said Saturday.
Building small power plants will be implemented within the next decade, which will be used for a variety of purposes, Kamalvandi was quoted as saying by official IRNA news agency. (Iran-Nuke)

FAIZABAD, Afghanistan -- Clashes between Afghan forces and Taliban militants claimed 22 lives including five security personnel and injured 42 others in the northern Badakhshan province on Friday, deputy to provincial police chief Sakhidad Haidari said Saturday.
"The deadly clash erupted in Khostak area of Jarm district Friday morning and lasted till late night during which 22 people including five security personnel and 17 Taliban rebels had been killed and 42 others including 30 rebels and 12 security personnel sustained injuries," Haidari told Xinhua. CAIRO -- An Egyptian court on Saturday delivered another death sentence to the chief leader of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group Mohammed Badie and 13 other MB members over violence charges, state-run TV reported.
The MB spiritual leader and the other 13 defendants are charged with running an operational room to mobilize group members to target security forces and spread disorder after the dispersal of two major sit-ins in the capital of Cairo in August, 2013. (Egypt-MB-Death Sentence)

RAMADI, Iraq -- The Islamic State (IS) militants executed 33 people, including women and children, near the city of Ramadi, the capital of Iraq's western province of Anbar, a provincial security source said on Saturday.
The IS militants captured the 33 people on Friday after the militants took control of Albu Farraj area in north of Ramadi, some 110 km west of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-IS)

DAMASCUS -- At least 20 Syrian soldiers were killed when repelling an attack by extremist groups against a military airbase in Syria's southern province of Sweida, a monitor group reported Saturday.
Among the killed soldiers, 12 were with the Palestinian Liberation Army (PLA), a brigade in the Syrian army that comprises of Palestinian refugees in Syria, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Extremists) Endi
