Clean air forecast for Beijing on Saturday

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Beijing is expected to see improving air conditions on Saturday after being smothered in heavy smog for most days of the week, the city's pollution response center said on Friday.

The Chinese capital is currently in an official status of "heavy pollution", which means the PM2.5 reading stays above 200.

The response center has advised residents to cut time spent outdoors and use public transportation.

Bordering China's industrial hub, Beijing often experiences severe air pollution.

The Chinese government has tightened regulation, allocated more funds and supported efforts to reduce polluting industries amid public call for a better environment.

Since last year, more than 920 billion yuan (150 billion U.S. dollars) has been channeled to support the renovation of land, air pollution control and clean water projects across the country, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Friday. Endi
