Russia calls for collective efforts to solve global conflicts: FM

Xinhua, April 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Russia's involvement in settling global and regional conflicts is an approach aimed at gathering international collective efforts, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.

"All approaches, which Russia currently promotes, envisage collective efforts in the search of resolutions and are never unilateral dictatorship," Lavrov said at a meeting.

The minister expressed hope that such an approach would also gain a foothold in the settlement of the Ukraine crisis, as implementation of the Minsk accords is underway despite various obstacles.

It is disappointing that relations between Russia and the West deteriorated because of the Ukraine crisis, which has led to an anti-Russia propaganda, said Lavrov.

"There are unprecedented attempts aimed at distorting the image of our country and its policies," the Tass news agency quoted Lavrov as saying.

Nevertheless, Lavrov pointed out that interactions between Russia and Western countries should continue regardless of the icy relationship.

"Besides collaboration of experts from leading research centers and political think tanks, interaction between trade and economic associations also continues," Lavrov said. Endi
