China, Singapore pledge closer cooperation

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean here on Wednesday and they pledged to boost cooperation between the two countries.
The China-Singapore relationship is strengthening fast amid a new dawn for cooperation between the two countries, Zhang said, highlighting partnerships in trade and investment, finance, human resources, governance, technology, education and environmental protection.
As this year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, China stands ready to work with Singapore to carry forward their friendship, enhance political trust, and deepen practical cooperation to lead the bilateral relationship to a new high, according to Zhang.
Teo, in China to attend the fifth China-Singapore Forum on Leadership, said the Singaporean side hopes to make joint efforts with China to advance the bilateral relationship by innovative means.
On Wednesday, Chinese State Councilor and Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun also met with Teo, who is also Singapore's coordinating minister for national security and minister for home affairs.
Guo called on the two sides to organize more exchanges sharing experience in the rule of law and governance, and to deepen law-enforcement cooperation in bilateral and multilateral areas so as to safeguard social stability and benefit the people of the two countries.
Teo said Singapore is willing to push forward law-enforcement cooperation with China. Endi
