Zuma meets Mugabe on ways to boost ties

South African President Jacob Zuma met with his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe on Wednesday in Pretoria to discuss ways of boosting bilateral ties.

The two leaders met in closed doors in the Union Buildings in Pretoria after an official ceremony during which the national anthems of the two countries were played.

During the visit, a number of bilateral agreements will be signed by South African International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane and her Zimbabwean counterpart Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, including an agreement on the establishment of a Bi-national Commission.

According to South African officials, an agreement to be signed would cover mutual assistance between the countries' customs administrations.

Moreover, an agreement between South Africa and Zimbabwe on cooperation on water resource management and the establishment and functioning of the Joint Water Commission will be signed by South Africa's Water Affairs Minister Nomvula Mokonyane and her Zimbabwean counterpart Saviour Kasukuwere. Endi
