China's top political advisor, Yu Zhengsheng, met with visiting General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong in Beijing on Wednesday.

Currently bilateral ties are at a crucial stage for improvement and development, Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said.

"We are willing to work together with Vietnam to enhance high-level political trust, maintain coordination, positively guide the public opinion, cement understanding and mutual support between the two peoples, to create conditions for the stability and growth of bilateral ties," said Yu, who visited Vietnam at the end of 2014.

Nguyen Phu Trong spoke highly of the cooperation between the CPPCC and Vietnam Fatherland Front, vowing to cement understanding, trust and win-win cooperation between both countries, and promote healthy development of China-Vietnam all-round strategic cooperative partnership.

Trong is paying an official visit to China from Tuesday to Friday at the invitation of Xi Jinping, Chinese President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

It is his second China visit since taking office as Vietnam's party chief in 2011. Endi
