Last batch of Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion arrives in South Sudan

The last batch of the Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion arrived in South Sudan on Wednesday, concluding the deployment of the first infantry battalion sent abroad for peackeeping mission.
The 130 peacekeeping infantrymen will join other 570 soliders who have been put in place since the end of February, at a time when the mission area is gradually entering the rainy season.
"Hot and humid environment is the biggest challenge for the peacekeepers in the first period," an officer of the battalion said.
Following the the completion of the deployment, the first task for the battalion is to build their camp, before taking part in related training courses to be arranged by the United Nations.
After the training, the peacekeeping infantry battalion will continue to carry out tasks focused on protecting civilians, including patrols and vigilance. Endit
