India's main opposition Congress party flays civil aviation minister for carrying matchboxes on flights

Xinhua, April 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

India's main opposition Congress party on Wednesday flayed the country's Civil Aviation Minister Gajapathi Raju for bragging that he carried matchboxes on board flights.

"It is unfortunate if a minister is breaking the law. As a minister and a high dignitary, he is entitled to not be frisked," Congress general-secretary Shakeel Ahmad told the media in the national capital.

The civil aviation minister had earlier sparked off a row by claiming that he had often carried matchboxes on board passenger planes since he is not subjected to frisking.

Matchboxes and lighters are part of a list of prohibited items on board aircraft in India. Endi
