5 Tunisian soldiers killed in ambush

Five soldiers were killed and 9 others injured in the ambush near Kasserine, midwest Tunisia, spokesperson of the Defense Ministry Belhassan Oueslati said on Wednesday.

Following heavy sweeping operations around the area, where the incident happened, Tunisian security forces arrested 13 suspects who will be interrogated by the Interior Ministry.

The targeted army patrol left the Sbeitla barracks towards a mountain in the same region, near the Algerian borders. It consisted of 20 soldiers and four vehicles. The patrol was attacked by an RPG and a grenade.

On Tuesday, several local media reported the attack, however the death toll was not confirmed by official authorities until Wednesday. Endit
