DR Congo warns of Central African Republic's refugees with weapons

Xinhua, April 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) on Monday urged residents of Zongo town to inform the security services if they find any Central African Republic's refugee with weapons.

The authorities made the appeal after a refugee from Central African Republic was recently found with a grenade, at a time when new refugees keep arriving in the town from Central African Republic's capital Bangui.

"I want to appeal to the local population, especially host families, to inform the security forces of any refugee who has a weapon," Zongo mayor Michel Siazo said.

Siazo said among the refugees from Central African Republic, there are members of ex-Seleka and ex-Balaka militias.

"Some refugees are selling a grenade for as low as 0.5 U.S. dollar," the mayor said, adding that in the last few days, over 250 refugees who were fleeing from violence in Bangui had arrived in Zongo. Endi
