Iran's IRGC backs negotiators in "defending nuclear rights"

Xinhua, April 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) support nuclear negotiators in "defending the country's nuclear rights," said IRGC's Chief Commander Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari on Tuesday.

"The resistance of the Iranian nation against the United State nullified all the powerful options of the Americans to impose their political will on the Islamic republic," Jafari was quoted by the IRGC website as saying.

The United States aimed to force Iran to change its political behavior, but it had to quit its all options in favor of diplomacy to resolve Iran's nuclear issue, he said.

The Iranian negotiating team "has been able to defend the Iranians' rights deservedly in the diplomatic front so far," he said, adding that "the IRGC is grateful to them for their sincere efforts to observe the redlines" in the recent nuclear talks.

He demanded the recognition of Iran's nuclear enrichment right, research and development in nuclear sector and simultaneous removal of all the relevant sections against Iran.

Representatives from Iran and the P5+1 group (the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China plus Germany) on Thursday reached common solutions to outstanding issues in a run for a comprehensive deal by June 30. Endit
