New Zealand Customs reports record summer travelers, trade volumes

Xinhua, April 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

A record number of travelers and goods crossed New Zealand borders over the southern summer months, Customs Minister Nicky Wagner announced Tuesday.

Passenger numbers in and out of the country from December last year to February this year were up by more than 6 percent year on year to over 3 million, Wagner said in a statement.

"Trade volumes were also high over the summer months. More than 9.5 million international mail imports were cleared over summer, including more than half a million parcels and packages," she said.

"Courier freight also topped the charts with 1.6 million imports recorded for the three months, almost a 14-percent increase on the previous year." Endi
