YANGON -- Three people were killed and five others injured as tornado hit two villages in Phakant, Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state, local media reported Monday.

The tornado struck the villages and surrounding areas of Phakant on Sunday morning, damaging some buildings and a school, said the 7-Day News. (Myanmar-Tornado)

TOKYO -- A helicopter belonging to Japan's Ground Self-Defense Forces (GSDF) on Monday made a crash landing in rice field in Sendai in northeast Japan without any injuries, according to local media.

The chopper was on a test flight after regular checks at the GSDF Kasuminome air field, said local report, adding the aircraft' s main rotor was bent and its tail rotor fell off after the crash landing. (Japan-Helicopter-Crash Landing)
