Xinhua, April 6, 2015 Adjust font size:

Some eight militants were killed within the last 24 hours as the Afghan army pressed ahead with offensives in restive provinces, the country's Defense Ministry said Monday morning. "Eight terrorists were killed, 10 were wounded and three terrorists were detained during the Afghan National Army (ANA) operations in three provinces over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.

Two army soldiers were also killed in a landmine blast and enemy's direct firing within the same period, the statement confirmed.

The army specialists found and defused 36 landmine and roadside bombs across the country since early Sunday, the statement added.

The Taliban insurgent group has yet to make comments.
