Zambia junior team gears up for Nigeria in All-Africa Games qualifier

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Zambia under-23 national soccer team has started preparations for an All-Africa Games last round return qualifier match against Nigeria, the Times of Zambia reported on Wednesday.

The junior Chipolopolo will face Nigeria on April 11 in Lusaka, the Zambian capital for the last round return leg. The two teams drew 0-0 in the first leg played in Abuja on March 22.

Head coach Fighton Simukonda said all the players called for the match were fit and that he was taking the match seriously because Nigerians were not pushovers.

While acknowledging that Zambia will have the advantage of playing at home, the trainer emphasized the need to change the game plan to beat the Nigeria after recording a barren drawn in the first leg match.

"Nigeria is a strong team and we need to change our tactics if we are to beat them and qualify for the finals. We have the advantage of playing at home but that should not make us relax but work hard to get the result," he was quoted as saying by the paper. Endi
