French auto manufacturers provides more new cars in March on growing demand

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

French Car Sales Federation (CCFA) announced Wednesday car sales in March stood at 196,572 units across France, up by 9.3 percent from the same month of 2014.

Sales of the country's domestic brands rebounded by 7.8 percent after offering 107,896 units over the period while sales of foreign brands jumped by 11.1 percent to 88,676 vehicles compared to last year's data.

France's largest car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroen sold 7.9 percent more from a year before after registering 56,479 new orders at the end of March, while Renault, France's No. 2 auto maker saw its sales increase by 8.1 percent.

In 2014, sales of new vehicles in France reported a rise of 0.3 percent, the first positive performance since 2010. For 2015, the federation expected sales of new cars to grow by 2 percent.

To keep the sluggish sector afloat, the French government resorts to clean cars and is seeking to reinforce production of environmentally-friendly vehicles through an auto sector rescue package. Endit
