Albanian police chief resigns over former MP case

Albania's state police chief Artan Didi resigned on Tuesday as two Albanian Interpol officials were arrested for violating legal procedures concerning a former parliament member case.

Didi decided to resign because he did not "have enough capacity to prevent it" and the event was "unacceptable" for the institution.

Albanian state police Monday arrested two Interpol officials, following an investigation conducted by the Internal Affairs Service and Complaints, for alleged "abuse of office," Albanian Telegraphic Agency reported Tuesday.

The two senior officials have "neglected" their duty over the arrest and extradition of a member of the parliament Mark Frroku, charged with murder complicity in 1999, in Belgium.

The two senior officials of Interpol are accused of withholding request of "Interpol Brussels" regarding Frroku from Albanian Ministry of Justice

Request of "Interpol Brussels" concerning Frroku was reportedly sent in January 2015 in Tirana, but it was kept in the offices of Interpol Tirana, skipping Albanian Ministry of Justice.

According to Albanian Daily News, Frroku, a current lawmaker in the Albanian parliament, is accused of pre-meditated murder 16 years ago in Brussels' Belgium in complicity with others. Endi
