Iran and the world powers are likely to issue a joint statement on Wednesday to wrap up the Lausanne nuclear talks, Iran's senior nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said.
Progress in recent talks will be outlined in the statement, which may take the form of a joint plan of action, Araqchi said in a live broadcast of state IRIB TV.
Iran and the P5+1 group -- namely five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany -- resumed their week-long talks Wednesday after missing the March 31 deadline for a framework agreement.
"There would be no agreement at the end of today, unless solutions would be found for all the subjects" on Iran's nuclear issue, Araqchi said.
He said Iran insists on immediate removal of sanctions on its oil export, banking and other economic sectors upon signing a comprehensive deal.
In addition, Iran wants to keep its research and development program on advanced centrifuges for uranium enrichment, he said, adding that solutions for these issues are possible.
The Iranian nuclear negotiator reiterated that in case there would be a need for further extension of the current talks, the negotiators from both sides will stay in the Swiss city of Lausanne. Endit
