Nepali President's visit to China has taken bilateral ties to new high: minister

Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav 's recent visit to China has taken the ties between the two countries to a new high, a Nepali minister said here Wednesday.
Minister for Urban Development Narayan Khadka, who accompanied the president in the visit to China, said that Yadav's speech at the Boao Forum for Asia was a matter of pride for Nepal.
The minister said that the president's visit was highly successful in deepening, strengthening and expanding Nepal-China relations.
"This was the first official visit of our president to China. In addition to that this was the first time that Nepal's president held bilateral talks with the Chinese president since Nepal became Republic," Khadka told reporters at a press conference.
"Boao Forum has been established as an important economic forum in Asia. It is a matter of pride for Nepal as Nepal's president attended the conference and addressed such an important forum," the Minister said.
The minister said that President Yadav's visit is important at this time as the two countries are marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year with various functions and exchanges of high level visits.
Nepal and China established diplomatic relations on August 1, 1955.
Noting that China and Nepal have planned to exchange series of high-level visits throughout 2015 as part of celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the minister said that the Nepali government is expecting high- level visits from China.
President Yadav's visit to China is also a part of the exchange of high-level visits, the minister added. Endi
