At least one Palestinian was injured and 10 others were arrested on Wednesday during clashes between the Palestinians and Israeli army soldiers in various areas in the West Bank, according to eyewitnesses.
Medical and security officials also confirmed that a 19-year-old young man was shot in his leg during clashes with the Israeli soldiers at Jenin refugee camp in northern West Bank.
Residents in the refugee camp said that dozens were injured by strong tear gas the Israeli soldiers fired to disperse the demonstrators, who protested against wounding the young man and arresting two others.
However, Israeli Radio reported that the 19-year-old young man and two others hurled an explosive device at an Israeli army patrol that was looking for suspects involved in violence against Israel.
The Radio which quoted Israeli army sources said that the soldiers opened fire, wounded the young man and detained two others, adding that clashes broke out in the refugee camp and the soldiers dispersed them with tear gas.
Meanwhile, Palestinian security officials said that the Israeli army stormed several towns and villages in the West Bank and arrested eight Palestinians, saying they were wanted by Israeli security forces.
The Palestinians announced earlier that they would halt the security coordination between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority in case Israel keeps its harsh policies against the Palestinians in the West Bank.
The Israeli army, however, carries out daily raids to towns, villages and cities under the PNA control and detains Palestinian activists, saying they are threatening the security of the state of Israel.
The Ramallah-based Prisoners Club Association said in an official report that the Israeli army had arrested 326 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of the year. Endit
