Macao's monthly gaming revenues slump nearly 40 pct in March

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Macao's gross gaming revenues slumped 39.4 percent year-on-year to 21,487 billion patacas (2691. 9 billion USD), said the Macao Gaming Inspection & Coordination Bureau Wednesday.

The total gaming revenues stood at 64.777 billion patacas (8115. 2829 billion USD) in the first three months this year, down by 36. 6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the figure released by the bureau.

The government will make cultivating emerging sector a priority as the development of Macao's gaming sector began to slow down after dramatic growth in the past ten years, said Cui Sai On, Chief Executive of Macao Administrative Region March in his policy speech of fiscal year 2015.

Macao's gaming revenues have declined sharply since last June, while the region's gross domestic product shrank 0.4 percent.

However, Macao's economy remained sound as a whole, and the government will accelerate the strategic adjustment of the economic structure and promote diversified development, said Lionel Leong Vai Tac, Macao's Secretary for Economy and Finance. Endi
