Chinese investment to boost Zambia's industrialization: association

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese investment in Zambia will no doubt result in the development of more industries as Zambia is currently in the process of establishing three economic zones, said Yusuf Dodia, chairperson of the Private Sector Development Association (PSDA).

Dodia made the comment after President Edgar Lungu signed a range of investment agreements in Beijing where he attended a China-Zambia Economic Trade and Tourism Forum on Tuesday.

The Zambian leader, who delivered a keynote address during the forum, praised China's economy which he said had continued to be a symbol of economic and social resilience.

PSDA is especially delighted that the majority of the deals involve private-sector ventures between Zambia and Chinese companies.

"The partnership between Zambia and Chinese companies will, no doubt, result in technological and skills transfer and this will result in the further growth of Zambian companies," Dodia told Xinhua via a telephone interview.

The private sector chief has since hailed the Zambian leader for his role in promoting partnership between Zambian and Chinese companies, adding that Zambia has a lot to learn from the way China has managed to become an industrial powerhouse.

The majority of the investments will be located in Zambia's multi-facility economic zones. Endi
