A gunman was detained as he occupied the building of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Turkish largest city of Istanbul on Wednesday, private Dogan News Agency reported.

According to the report, the gunman evacuated the building in the district of Kartal and raised a flag with a sword figure at the window of the top floor of the building.

After 20 minutes, Turkish special operation teams entered into the building and detained the gunman, the report said.

Local media said the incident could be related with the hostage crisis a day earlier.

On Tuesday, Turkish prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz and two militants of the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) were killed during the operation of the Turkish special teams. Endit
