Singapore kicks off World Intellectual Property Day Celebrations

Xinhua, April 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore's arts and heritage district kicked off a month-long "Streets of Creativity"(SOC) project on Wednesday to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (WIPD) 2015.

Falling on April 26 every year, WIPD aims at increasing public awareness of Intellectual Property (IP) and its contribution to the flourishing of the creative arts and innovative sectors. SOC is a pilot project organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and more than 50 establishments, in conjunction with the nation's 50th birthday celebration.

Spanning across the month of April, creative activities such as a live concert, symphonic orchestra performances, an artisan bazaar, beauty roadshows, art exhibitions and workshops, can be seen at Bras Basah and Bugis, showcasing some of Singapore's best creative minds and their works.

The growing significance of IP in the flourishing of the nation 's creative sectors and its creation of high valued-added jobs was recently reported to exceed more than 100,000, with the number expected to steadily rise over the next three years. Endi
