Xinhua, March 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

A person has been killed and a few seriously injured after being attacked by a wild rhino on Monday morning in southern Nepal.

Harimaya Dahal, a 61-year old woman, died after being sent to a local hospital for treatment, according to the police.

The wild rhino chased people and created a terror in Hetauda city, which lies some 83 kilometers from the capital.

Kamal Jung Kunwar, chief warden of the Chitwan National Park, told Xinhua over phone that he cannot confirm the rhino is from his park, as the forest area is too big.

It has been reported that the park officials, police and the locals have been trying to take the wild animal under control. Earlier attempts to force the rhino out of the city by honking car horns and beating drums had been unsuccessful.

The rhino population of Nepal stood at 531 in 2011, statistics showed. Endi
