SAS changes cockpit rules after Germanwings crash

Scandinavian airline SAS said on Friday that it would introduce new cockpit rules that require two staff members in its cockpit at all times, local media reported on Friday.

The decision was made after recommendations from Swedish air traffic authorities in the wake of Germanwings air crash, the spokesman of the Stockholm-based airline, Henrik Edstrom, was cited by the Danish news agency Ritzau as saying.

SAS's decision to change its policies follows a similar response by Norwegian Air on Thursday.

SAS is the largest airline in the Nordics and it is jointly owned by the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian states. Endit
