At least one person was killed and two others injured after a military helicopter crashed Tuesday near Kiev, authorities said.

PARIS -- An Airbus A320 of the German low-cost airline Germanwings with 150 people on board crashed on Tuesday in southern France, French authorities confirmed.

RAMADI, Iraq -- Separate clashes on Tuesday between Iraqi forces and Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq's western province of Anbar left a total of 55 people killed and 71 wounded, security and medical sources said.
In the early hours of the day, security forces, backed by allied Shiite and Sunni militias and covered with Iraqi and U.S.-led aircraft, retook control of the areas of Albu Shihab and Albu Souda in west of the IS-held city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, after fierce clashes with the extremist militants, a provincial security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. ARUSHA, Tanzania -- Five people were killed and several others injured in a road accident in Uchama area of Nzega district in western Tanzania's region of Tabora, police said on Tuesday.

ADEN, Yemen -- Eight protesters were shot dead and dozens wounded when Houthi gunmen opened fire to disperse thousands of protesters in Yemen's southern province of Taiz on Tuesday, a medical official told Xinhua.
