Vietnam's LienVietPostBank enters semifinal at int'l women's volleyball cup

Vietnam's LienVietPostBank, the defending championship, has secured a ticket of the semifinals of the VTV-Binh Dien International Women's Volleyball Cup 2015 after winning all three matches of qualifying round.

During the fourth day of the tournament being held in Dong Ha city, Vietnam's central Quang Tri province on Tuesday, LienVietPostBank defeated Kazakhstan's Astana 3-1 (26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18). Earlier, the team also beat Vietinbank of Vietnam 3-0 and China's Fujian 3-1.

Also on Tuesday, Japan's Tenri University was defeated 0-3 by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's 4.25 Sports Club, while Vietnam's VTV Binh Dien Long An beat Malaysia 3-2.

The annual nine-day competition kicked off in Quang Tri last Saturday with the participation of four leading Vietnamese teams - VTV Binh Dien Long An, LienVietPostBank, Vietinbank and Tien Nong Thanh Hoa, and five international invitees of Malaysia, DPRK's 4.25 Sports Club, China's Fujian, Kazakhstan's Astana, and Japan's Tenri University.

The nine participants will compete in a round robin format in two groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semifinal round.

The event is scheduled to last till March 29. Endi
